Vidiots hosts a variety of free screenings and community events throughout the year. To learn more about these free events check our website or consider joining our newsletter.

 

MOVIE DEN

A tween and teen-centric matinee repertory series in our Microcinema, with programming focused on engaging, delighting, and inspiring the next generation of film lovers.

Movie Den offers curated afternoon screenings, showcasing seminal coming-of-age stories and classic titles in a cozy and welcoming setting, with tickets priced at $2 and popcorn on the house. Programs giving attendees expanded opportunities to learn about Vidiots will be offered before and after screenings. 

Currently Movie Den coincides with LAUSD’s official summer break. There may be mini Movie Den programs throughout the year. 

While designed for ages 12 and up, all are welcome. Some films may include mature content; MPAA ratings are provided. Parental discretion is advised.

 

PUBLIC SCHOOL SUPPORT + FIELD TRIPS

ROUGH CUTS

Vidiots offers a once-a-month, first-come-first-served, rough cut screening program to support independent filmmakers in our Annual Member community. As part of this monthly, year-round program, Vidiots invites filmmakers of both features and shorts to use our intimate, state-of-the-art Microcinema, at no cost, for rough cut, QC, and small feedback screenings. This program is not a curated series or festival, no public tickets may be sold or marketed, and participation is strictly first-come-first-served based on sign-ups.

Due to high demand, only Vidiots Annual and Founding Members are invited to participate in this program.

 

TEEN TIX

We are excited to be a Teen Tix partner. TeenTix is a non-profit organization that exists to break down the barriers that prevent teens from accessing art in our community, such as ticket or admission cost, not knowing where to look for events, navigating transportation around the city, and feeling insecure around arts-going if there’s no one in their lives already championing the arts.

VHS PRESERVATION INITIATIVE

Vidiots is extraordinarily proud of the relaunch of our ambitious VHS digitization project. With the ultimate goal of preserving our already existing VHS Archive of over 10,000 culturally significant and rare titles, an archive that dates back to our fledgling days in Santa Monica during the mid-1980s, this will be an ongoing project as we continue to intake and collect rare titles only on VHS.
