Crack the code and track down a killer in David Fincher’s atmospheric true crime thriller. This dark and haunting film delves into the notoriously unsolved and much speculated on Zodiac Killer, the serial killer that held Northern California in a vice grip of panic for decades, and has moved into Jack the Ripper territory of a mystery that may never be solved. It can be obsessed over, however, and it was, by so many, including crime reporter Paul Avery (Robert Downey Jr.), police inspector Dave Toschi (Mark Ruffalo) and Robert Graysmith (Jake Gyllenhaal), a cartoonist with a penchant for puzzles who cracks the cipher of the enigmatic madman’s taunting letters to the police and the press. This taut and suspenseful thriller won’t provide any solid answers on the Zodiac’s identity, but it will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout.
