Join us in celebrating the visionary life and work of Béla Tarr with a screening of his hypnotic masterpiece The Turin Horse.
A haunting poetic parable, Hungarian master Béla Tarr’s final film is a bleakly beautiful meditation on Earthly elements and the human soul. Tarr plays on the existentialism of Friedrich Nietzche by drawing him into this slow moving and beautifully shot story of a poor cab driver, his daughter, and a horse that has given up the will to work. As a windstorm rages, all four characters are thrown into a grim reality that sweeps them into a spiral of despair. Immaculately photographed in Tarr’s renowned long takes, The Turin Horse is the final statement from a master filmmaker.
