Slightly darker than your average Disney fair – and the studio’s first film to be rated PG- The Black Cauldron is more akin to Lord of the Rings than to Cinderella, but is a gorgeously crafted, often overlooked gem in the mouse’s crown. When an evil Horned King steals a pig that holds oracular powers to find the mythic Black Cauldron to create an evil army, a lowly shepherd boy must stand up and become the great warrior he’s always fantasized he could be. Based on the The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander, and loosely based on Welsh mythology, this animated adventure is literally legendary. Hop on the back of your dragon and get ready to save the world with your little swineherds as Vidiots revisits this dark Disney classic.
