The winner of the Palme d’Or at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival, this unadorned yet piercing drama stands as one of the greatest achievements of Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami. Shot mostly via a series of simple long takes, A Taste of Cherry follows a man named Badii (Homayoun Ershadi) as he drives around Tehran looking for someone who can help him with an important task: burying his body after he commits suicide. As Badii asks numerous people for help, he is repeatedly rejected or urged to reconsider his plans. Will these conversations ultimately convince him to change his mind?
