Vidiots is cranking up the 16mm projector and digging through the archives to bring you a variety of eye-popping and obscure animated shorts from the 1950s – 1970s. You won’t find any Looney Tunes or Silly Symphonies in this program, and you won’t want to bring the kiddos, but you will find a host of innovative and obsolete delights including silhouette puppetry by animation pioneer Lotte Reiniger, an ultra-rare lost UPA short, Mel Brooks scoffing at experimental animation, a chilling anti-fascist Mid-Century allegory, one of the earliest computer animations, anti-war rhetoric with Orson Welles, and works from visionaries Norman McLaren, Evelyn Lambart, Peter Foldes, and John and Faith Hubley. Everything screened on 16mm film.
