I’m mad as Hell and I’m not going to take it anymore! One of the greatest satiric thrillers of all time, Sidney Lumet’s paranoid masterpiece Network has never stopped being relevant in an ever-increasingly corporate world. The UBS network is ready to retire their anchorman Howard Beale after 25 years. In an on-air tirade, Beale announces his plan to kill himself on TV. When ratings sky-rocket, Beale’s angry prophet routine becomes big business, and UBS decides to go even harder into extreme programming. Savagely funny, soul-shatteringly prescient, and with unbelievable performances from Peter Finch and Faye Dunaway, it’s easy to see how this film won 4 Oscars and continues to stay timely – 50 years later.
