There, he meets his wife’s doppelgänger and his typewriter morphs into a cockroach and begins to produce the book that the film is based upon. And that’s just the start of this surrealist masterpiece’s convoluted and mind-bending premise. Like all the best cult classics, this genre-defying head trip was a box office flop, but remains one of the strangest movies ever made and has amassed a loyal following of cinephiles, druggies, beatniks, and weirdos!
