We’re saluting Norivember with the Oscar-winning Joan Crawford classic Mildred Pierce, directed by the great Michael Curtiz and based on the novel by James M. Cain – with an unknown number of script additions from none other than William Faulkner. Mildred Pierce (Crawford) finds herself supporting herself and her two daughters after her husband runs off with another woman. Though she finds success in the restaurant business, her spoiled rotten daughter Veda resents her working-class position and longs for a station higher in life, and may resort to murder to keep it. Joan Crawford won an Academy Award for her powerhouse performance in this beautifully blended mix of high Noir and melodrama set in none other than Glendale!
