Vidiots welcomes writer/director Tony Gilroy for a special 35mm screening of his courtroom corruption drama Michael Clayton.
George Clooney brings the full force of his movie-star charisma to bear as the title character in this electrifying mix of character study and thriller from writer-director Tony Gilroy. Michael Clayton is the shady fixer for a powerful New York law firm, a man who can be counted on to discreetly solve the legal problems of the elite — no matter how sordid or unethical. But the nature of his job is slowly eating away at his soul, and he suffers a crisis of conscience when his colleague Arthur (Tom Wilkinson) pulls him into a conspiracy involving a mega-corporation eager to hide their misdeeds. Nominated for seven Academy Awards, the movie earned Tilda Swinton a richly deserved Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her work as a lawyer even more amoral than Clayton.
Expanding on the conversation around Gilroy’s career, he will also be talking about his newest work, the second season of his Emmy-nominated, Peabody Award-winning series Andor, which will premiere its first three episodes April 22 on Disney+.
