Leonard Shelby (Guy Pearce) has a condition. Ever since a home break-in in which he was assaulted and his wife was killed, he’s been unable to form new memories: after a few minutes, he’ll forget what just happened to him. He relies on handwritten notes and personalized tattoos to keep track of information, which he’ll need in his quest to hunt down his wife’s murderer. At least, that’s the plan in this ingenious, chronologically fractured thriller that served as writer-director Christopher Nolan’s big breakthrough. But poor Leonard’s attempts to find justice are complicated by several mysterious figures he’s not sure he can trust, like femme fatale Natalie (Carrie-Anne Moss) and the weaselly Teddy (Joe Pantoliano). He thinks they might be manipulating him, but he’s not sure. You see, he has this condition…wait, I’ve told you this before, haven’t I?
