Vidiots is stoked to welcome legendary director Catherine Hardwicke for a special 20th anniversary screening of her Los Angeles skateboarding classic Lords of Dogtown.
Shred on down to Vidiots for Catherine Hardwicke’s essential LA classic of friendship, skateboards, and fame – all set to one of the most killer soundtracks of the aughts. During a summer of draught in Venice, as swimming pools are being drained to save on water, a motley crew of surfers took to skateboards and changed the sports world forever. As the Z-Boys create a new style of extreme skateboarding in the empty pools, they skyrocket to fame, but it threatens to tear their friendship apart. With a script from Stacy Peralta – the man who lived it, a score composed by Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh, an auspicious early standout performance from Heath Ledger, and a soundtrack that features Black Sabbath, David Bowie, Cher, Iggy Pop, Neil Young, and T.Rex (just to name a few), this hard-rocking 1970s slice of Los Angeles history has got all the steez!
