Though many call it a documentary, Idiocracy is still funnier than depressing. Directed by Mike Judge (Office Space, Beavis & Butt-head), Idiocracy sends a librarian (Luke Wilson) 500 years into the future to see what horrors await humanity. What he finds is a society built on consumerism, burdened by stupidity, and run by the moronic President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho (Terry Crews). Now facing extinction because the FDA is owned by a beverage company hellbent on watering plants with an electrolyte-rich sports drink, Earth’s people must overcome their low intelligence and save the world—if they don’t get distracted by low-effort television first. Okay, the jury is still out on whether it’s a documentary. But it’s also very, very funny.
