Don’t miss the U.S. Premiere of Vainilla, the feature debut of Mayra Hermosillo, featuring a conversation with the filmmaker moderated by Guillermo del Toro
Vainilla follows eight-year-old Roberta as she sees her family navigate resilience, legacy, and changing ideas of womanhood in 1980s Mexico.
Last year, the project was part of our Work In Progress Latino program, where it received support to complete post-production. Now it’s back at GLAFF as a completed film.

GLAFF (GuadaLAjara Film Festival) has been running since 2010 as a boutique platform dedicated to Latin American, Latinx, and BIPOC filmmakers. We discover, support, and uplift new voices while showcasing established talent from the U.S. and Latin America. As a non-profit, we’re committed to giving back to the community.
This year we’re celebrating the 15th edition of the festival, with screenings across Los Angeles, including special presentations at Vidiots. For more information about the festival and to grab your tickets and passes, click here.
