Remembering iconic actor James Earl Jones
Taking a swing as America’s dad, Kevin Costner stars as Ray Kinsella, a lifelong baseball fan who turns his cornfield into a baseball diamond at the behest of a mysterious voice telling him, “If you build it, they will come.” Nursing an open wound left by his late father, Kinsella throws himself into the project, becoming town pariah as a team of ballplayers, including Shoeless Joe Jackson (Ray Liotta) and Archie “Moonlight” Graham (Burt Lancaster), returns from the grave for batting practice. James Earl Jones co-stars as a local writer destined to rekindle his love of the game. This tribute to America’s pastime is everything a baseball movie should be: Nostalgic, sentimental, and filled with corn. It’s a home run.
