Join us as we welcome The HiveMind Unified and Sista Brunch for a special screening of Ekwa Msangi’s Farewell Amor. As immigration continues to dominate headlines, Farewell Amor reminds us that Black immigrants are a vital part of this conversation. Through its deeply human story of reunion, adaptation, and generational conflict, the film speaks to the resilience of Black families and the richness of the African diaspora. With this film, we celebrate not just Black history, but Black futures—honoring the past while envisioning new possibilities for generations to come. Reunited after a 17-year separation, Walter, an Angolan immigrant, is joined in the U.S. by his wife and teenage daughter. Now absolute strangers sharing a one-bedroom apartment, they discover a shared love of dance that may help overcome the emotional distance between them. An impressive debuut feature from Writer/Director Ekwa Msangi, this is a beautiful and moving film for everyone.
Also screening an episode of The Self-Love Act.
