Join us for a special 50th Anniversary screening of Sidney Lumet’s Oscar-winning true crime thriller Dog Day Afternoon. Based on the true story of would-be Brooklyn bank robbers John Wojtowicz and Salvatore Naturile. Sonny and Sal attempt a bank heist which quickly turns sour and escalates into a hostage situation and stand-off with the police. As Sonny’s motives for the robbery are slowly revealed (he is trying to fund his partner’s gender-reassignment surgery) and things become more complicated, the heist turns into a media circus. Taut and tense throughout, with a dash of very dark humor, and incredible performances from Al Pacino and John Cazale, don’t miss this crime classic at Vidiots!
