Susan Seidelman’s fresh and stylish New York fairy tale features an effervescent young Madonna in her first film role. Rosanna Arquette stars as Roberta, a bored suburban housewife who is fascinated with a mystery woman, Susan, played by Madonna. When she spots an ad meant for Susan in the personals, Roberta goes to the rendezvous too, and in a series of events involving amnesia and mistaken identity, she steps out of her own sterile existence and into the danger and romance of Susan’s life.
