We’re getting groovy with Kris Kristofferson, Gene Hackman and a 100 kilos of high-quality marijuana in this laid-back slice of 1970s LA subculture. A down on his luck former drug dealer is forced by a corrupt LAPD policeman to sell a confiscated lot of the sticky-icky-icky in Venice while dealing with a deteriorating relationship with his girlfriend (Karen Black) and his friend’s (Harry Dean Stanton) alarming drug use. Initially overlooked on release, this meandering, vibe-heavy, drug-fueled, nihilistic cult classic will take you back to the Los Angeles of the early 70s with all the coolest stars of any era.
One of the greatest actors and artists to ever do it, Gene Hackman’s impact on cinema is immeasurable, and we are endlessly grateful for the unforgettable performances he gave us. Winner of two Academy Awards and four Golden Globes, he came to acting late but left an indelible mark on the cinematic landscape for eternity.
