Before Blade Runner 2049 and Dune, Denis Villeneuve directed this mind-bending sci-fi film about first contact between humanity and a mysterious alien race. Amy Adams stars as Louise Banks, a brilliant linguist assigned the difficult task of deciphering the language of an extraterrestrial species that has arrived on Earth. What do they want? Are they here on a mission of peace or is this the prelude to an invasion? Banks attempts to communicate with the aliens with the help of a fellow scientist (Jeremy Renner), and together their efforts will help determine the fate of mankind — and lead her to a shocking discovery about the nature of time and her own future.
