Be there for the first explosion of Punk Rock in Michael Winterbottom’s deliriously entertaining retelling of a musical revolution and the man that broadcast it across the world. The hilarious Steve Coogan plays Tony Wilson, a Manchester news reporter in the mid-1970s, looking to make his mark. After taking in a concert from the seminal punk band the Sex Pistols, he becomes a one-man crusade to televise and spread the anarchic sound of Manchester’s punk scene. While not entirely based on truth, this electric showcase of punk “history” is built on legends, myths, and a dose of reality, but brings an era of riotous rebellion into focus.
