In her Oscar acceptance speech for American Factory (2020 Best Documentary Feature), filmmaker Julia Reichert said, “Working people have it harder and harder these days, and we believe things will get better when workers of the world unite.”
Reichert, beloved amongst documentary filmmakers as artist, activist, and cherished mentor, died on December 1, 2022. Her acclaimed 50-year career centered on making nonfiction films documenting workers’ rights and women’s rights, while mentoring dozens of emerging filmmakers.
In celebration of her life and work, Vidiots and Cinema Eye Honors, with support from Participant, present a two-night tribute, JULIA REICHERT: WORKERS OF THE WORLD UNITE, on Tuesday, August 29, and Wednesday, August 30.
Oscar-winning filmmaker Steven Bognar, Reichert’s husband and filmmaking partner, will be in person at all screenings on both days along with other special guests.
Limited tickets are free for striking guild members and will be available 30 minutes before showtimes.
