On October 23, 2016, Vidiots will honor iconic actor Harry Dean Stanton at The Theatre at Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles with an evening of conversation, film clips, and music hosted by long-time Stanton friend Ed Begley Jr., and featuring performances and tributes from Kris Kristofferson, Father John Misty, Inara George, Jack Huston, Harper Simon, and many more soon-to-be announced guests.
Crossing generations and genres, Harry Dean Stanton’s contribution to cinema is indelible. Stanton has appeared in more than 200 films in over 50 years, including Paris, Texas, Cool Hand Luke, Repo Man, The Straight Story, Alien, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Wild at Heart, Pretty in Pink, The Godfather Part II, and Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid, to name only a few. He has worked with directors including Alfred Hitchcock, John Huston, David Lynch, Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, Sam Peckinpah, and Wim Wenders. Stanton stars in John Carroll Lynch’s forthcoming directorial debut Lucky, alongside David Lynch, Ed Begley Jr., Tom Skerritt, and Ron Livingston, written and produced by Logan Sparks and Drago Sumonja. Stanton will also appear in David Lynch’s upcoming Twin Peaks.
Producing the event with Vidiots are Harry Dean Stanton friends Sophie Huber, Laila Nabulsi, Harper Simon, and Logan Sparks.
The “Harry Dean Stanton Award” will annually recognize a member of the film community whose body of work has helped define American cinema. Stanton will be in attendance to accept the Award.
Next month, Vidiots is lauching an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to support a robust slate of new programming and preservation initiatives. This first-ever event, honoring Stanton, who turned 90 earlier this year, will mark the conclusion of the campaign. Crowdfunders will have the opportunity to support Vidiots starting September 20th, via Indiegogo, and be the first to secure limited perks and incentives, which may include add-ons to ticket holders. To be reminded when the campaign launches, sign up here.
