A comic book movie like no other, Rachel Talalay’s post-apocalyptic-punk-feminist adaptation of the underground comic is an irreverent and colorful dystopian powerhouse. In 2033 the Earth has become a barren wasteland while an evil oligarch has taken control of what remains of the planet’s water. It’s up to a pair of badass lady outlaws and a gang of subversive kangaroos to team up and try to save Earth. This is one wonderfully weird film with a killer cast, production design by Catherine Hardwicke, and one of the best soundtracks of the 1990s (including Björk, Portishead, and Devo). And if that weren’t enough, you also get Ice-T in a kangaroo suit!
