Part-Time Video Store + Guest Services Clerk
Vidiots Foundation is looking for a part-time, weekend Video Store + Guest Services Clerk to join our team!
We’re a 501(c)3 non-profit for film lovers, filmmakers, and everyone curious about cinema. Vidiots at the Eagle is a film exhibition, entertainment, and education space, including a 271-seat state-of-the-art cinema, Vidiots’ over 70,000-title film and media library for rental, and a state-of-the-art micro-cinema.
Vidiots is looking for an experienced, customer service-oriented, enthusiastic, film-loving and knowledgeable, friendly, reliable Clerk to join our team. Vidiots provides the most welcoming and respectful atmosphere in L.A. for all patrons and staff, and Video Store + Guest Services Clerks are key to delivering that experience.

What you’ll do:
Work closely with Vidiots’ Video Store Director and Managers to:
- Present an engaging and welcoming demeanor that sets the tone for patrons and staff
- Assist patrons and Members to discover and rent titles from Vidiots’ vast physical media collection
- Responsible for managing rental accounts, including issuing communications regarding overdue rentals and damaged rentals
- Process rental, merchandise, and ticket transactions
- Assist in the tracking of requests for title additions for library acquisition
- Answer customer questions, concerns, and problems courteously and accurately, directing them to additional appropriate staff members for resolution as needed
- Remain current on membership benefits and promote Vidiots’ Annual Membership options
- Assist patrons with annual membership sales and renewals as well as other donor relations needs
- Organize, maintain, and assist in the ongoing streamlining of Vidiots’ online database and in-store display
- Work with Volunteers and Interns assigned to special projects
- Clean and maintain the Video Store, ensuring it is always organized and presentable
- Perform additional projects and duties as assigned by Vidiots’ Video Store Director
Work closely with Vidiots’ Front of House Managers to:
- Support Box Office and theater operations, including:
- Welcoming cinema patrons and accurately answering patron questions
- Scanning tickets and assisting Vidiots’ Front of House team with theater operations as needed
- Assist with display of important signage, reserved seating, and special guest check-in
- Additional related tasks as assigned by Vidiots’ Front of House Managers
What you’ll bring to the table:
Required Qualifications
- Minimum four (4) years of experience in brick-and-mortar customer service/and or retail; theater operations and/or box office operations are a plus
- Excellent customer service skills with a positive, kind, calm attitude
- Detail oriented with excellent and effective scheduling and communication skills
- Deep knowledge of and interest in film history, aesthetics, and contemporary film culture
- Comfort using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Airtable and Google Apps (e.g. Drive, Docs, Spreadsheets)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced brick-and-mortar with multiple teams
Desired Qualifications
- Passionate about building community through social interaction around film and media
- Strong desire to work in a customer-service oriented brick-and-mortar art space
- Strong understanding of the importance of physical media
- Capacity to balance short-term needs with long term vision
- Fluent Spanish and/or Tagalog and/or ASL speaker a plus
Work Environment:
- 12 hours per week role on-site at Vidiots
- Afternoon/Evening shifts on Saturdays and Sundays
- Work-on-site at Vidiots Foundation in Eagle Rock
Compensation:
- $18 per hour
- CalSavers retirement program
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- This position works primarily in an indoor setting with exposure to noisy environments, dim lighting, and strong visual effects
- Employee will occasionally be required to stand, sit, and stoop
- Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Employee must be able to see in order to operate machinery and tools
- Employee must comply with company and OSHA standard workplace safety protocols
