ABOUT US

Vidiots Foundation is a one-of-a-kind hub for film lovers, filmmakers, and everyone curious about cinema. Since Vidiots opened in 1985 as an alternative video store in Santa Monica, our team has been dedicated to inspiring human interaction around film through preserving, growing, and providing access to a diverse DVD, BluRay, and rare VHS collection, showcasing the work of emerging, master, and underrepresented artists, and producing unique and affordable film events and vital education programs.

After becoming a 501(c)3 non-profit in 2012 and making a decision in 2017 to shutter our storefront and store our collection of 50,000 titles in 2017, Vidiots has been in search of its next home. In 2022, Vidiots will re-open in the heart of Northeast L.A. in Eagle Rock’s historic Eagle Theater. With nearly 11,000 square feet of entertainment, social, and educational space, Vidiots will operate seven-days-a-week and offer a full calendar of screenings and special programs, a video rental store, concessions, and a light menu with beer and wine. The main 250-seat theater will provide flexibility for a variety of events and tastemaker screenings, while a second, 35-seat, flexible event space will be ideal for screenings, workshops, community events, and receptions.
