SURPRISE CINEMA! Vol. II
WITH SIMON BARRETT & KEITH CALDER
Date: Thursday, December 8th
Location: Vidiots Annex
Tickets: $25 General Admission / $20 Foundation Members (copper & up)
A one-of-a kind, informal screening with established and emerging filmmakers, actors, and comedians. Featured artists and attendees explore Vidiots’ extensive library, sparking free-flowing conversations and resulting in a screening of the artists’ pick in The Annex, Vidiots 48-seat screening room. Artists might live-commentary their screening, or ask the audience’s help in selecting a film. Writer Simon Barrett and producer Keith Calder (The Guest, Blair Witch) will reunite for their triumphant return to Vidiots after the pair kicked-off the first Surprise Cinema! event in July, 2016. It was unanimously hailed as one of the most mind-blowing film events attendees had ever experienced!
“Vidiots is probably the only place in the world where you can grab a long-forgotten VHS gem from a shelf, and share it with a group of cinema fans who are down for the adventure of discovery.” -Keith Calder, Producer (Blair Witch, Anomalisa, The Guest, You’re Next, Thunder Soul)
Join beloved indie filmmakers Simon Barrett and Keith Calder as they scour Vidiots’ massive library of rare VHS tapes, DVDs, and Blu-Rays for the perfect movie, choosing what the group will watch mere minutes before we all go into the screening room and hit “play.”
Simon Barrett’s screenwriting credits include The Guest, You’re Next, A Horrible Way to Die, Dead Birds and portions of the anthology films V/H/S, V/H/S/2 and The ABC’s of Death.
